  24. Some information about iCab for MacOS X
  25.  
  26. iCab and Mac OS X Public Beta are both preview versions. So some features don't work yet, partly because iCab doesn't support them yet (for example CSS), partly because MacOS X doesn't support them yet (like opening windows in the background), or because no drivers are available yet (for example there're no printer drivers for most printers) or because a special documentation of a MacOS X feature is not yet available (Java).

Nevertheless iCab does already work under Mac OS X in most parts in the same way it works under system 7, 8 or 9. The popular iCab features like image, JavaScript or cookie filters do work without problems. Also plugins are already supported (unfortunately only the QT plugin in available yet). The kiosk mode does also work, but because  MacOS X does always allow to swicth to other applications it is of little use for a real kiosk environment.

If you want to use the old iCab preferences and Hotlist under Mac OS X you should copy the folder "iCab preferences" from MacOS 8 or MacOS 9  (without the "cache" folder) to the following location of your MacOS X partition: "<MacOSX Volume>:Useres:<Username>:Library:Preferences:"   (Replace the folder names in <..> with the real names of your system)
